Joshua’s intimate knowledge of the fashion, retail, art and interior design worlds brings a refined knowledge to Shagreene, which he started as a blog focusing on interior design in 2009. A former fashion journalist at Women’s Wear Daily, Josh pursued a lifelong interest in the decorative arts and architecture when he joined Ralph Lauren’s store development team in 2005. He has designed and opened the brand’s award-winning retail stores and department store shops throughout the US, Chile, England, France, Germany, Guam, Italy, Korea, Kuwait, Spain and Switzerland. He has mentored under noted architect David Mann of MR Architecture + Decor and completed residential and commercial projects for a growing number of private clients.
He earned his bachelors degree in French from the University of Southern California and has completed courses in advertising, photography and fashion design at Parsons The New School for Design as well as architecture at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design.
Alex is an accomplished graphic designer and has built his career straddling the worlds of architecture and the graphic arts. At internationally renowned architecture firm Gwathmey Siegel & Associates Architects, he was charged with recreating the firm’s identity and building its web site using PHP, mySQL and CSS. In addition, he managed the digital library, graphics, computer renderings and visual presentations. Throughout his tenure, he coordinated with curators at institutions such as the Guggenheim, The Center for Architecture and the National Academy of Design Museum.
A member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts, he is a graduate of the American University of Paris where he studied international business and marketing and received a post-bachelors degree in graphic and digital design from Parsons The New School for Design.
