WHEN YOU’RE FEELING BLUE, WEAR RED.

So said the late fashion designer Pauline Trigere. Luckily, I’m not feeling blue…but red has been on my mind. At the recent Beirut show at Terminal 5 in New York, the red lights sealed the deal for my latest color inspiration. Here are some red pics from my life over the past year.

TOM DIXON MINES GOLD

I’m slightly obsessed with this pendant and candleholder from Tom Dixon. Available exclusively in the USA at Design Within Reach, they’re part of a collection of geodesic lights micro-etched in brass. They’re really good buys at $375 for the pendant and $55 for the candleholder. Dixon says the patterns are inspired by pure mathematics, but after learning he was born in Tunisia, I can totally see the Moorish influence on these pieces.

SHAGREENE DESIGNS PARASHU WEB SITE

We recently finalized a web site for an upscale shoe and handbag store in Los Angeles called Parashu. Located in Koreatown Plaza, Parashu is the store the Barneys girl doesn’t know but should.

OWCZAREK: SCULPTEUR EXTRAORDINAIRE

This past June in London, I attended the antiques show Masterpiece where I discovered the work of Paris-based sculptor Jacques Owczarek. Primarily focused on animal figures, Owczarek is self-taught and represented by Galerie Pierre Dumonteil in Paris. I find his work incredibly inspiring.
